How to Play Disappearing Tic Tac Toe

Disappearing tic tac toe follows the familiar three-in-a-row goal, with one change: you only ever keep three pieces on the board.

Players take turns placing a mark on any empty square, X first. Get three of your own marks in a line — across, down or diagonally — to win.

A piece is removed once six moves have been played since it was placed. In practice that means from your fourth move onwards, placing a new mark removes your oldest one. The piece dims on the turn before it goes, and a dimmed piece still counts: it can still complete a line or block one.

Draws are rare but possible. If the same position occurs three times, the game is declared a draw.

The same rules apply in every mode: against the computer, in ranked online matches, in private rooms with a friend, in Pass and Play, in Survival mode and in the Daily Sequence.
